Lyall Consulting (A Division of Lyall)

Lyall Consulting is dedicated to helping manufacturing companies increase their competitiveness in order that they can stay in business and provide jobs.

Next year will mark the 15th anniversary of the initiation of Lyall & Company’s continuing journey toward excellence and organizational leadership.

Along the way, we have learned what works, what doesn’t, and how to manage the transformation to a continual improvement culture.

While many leaders have mastered the “Language of Lean and Six Sigma”, few have developed the individual and collective capacity to implement and sustain the change required for ongoing improvement that leads to increased revenue, profit, and business valuation.  In fact, the record demonstrates that the vast majority of change efforts fail.

In recent years, companies struggling to maintain or increase the effectiveness of their change initiatives have discovered the necessity of anchoring the benefits achieved through the application of tools and techniques with aligned management systems and principles.

Uncharacteristic of most organizational interventions, Lyall began its process in 1997 by focusing on the establishment of a context that would serve to support the integration of the technological and systemic elements essential for a sustainable and successful transformation.

Lyall’s successes have been documented in numerous publications including Dr. Richard Schonberger’s book, Lets Fix It! Overcoming the Crisis in Manufacturing, Dr. Annie Barron’s book, Openness Works: Creating Personal, Professional and Financial Growth in Any Organization, and an article titled “Get Lean!” in Industry Week magazine.

Our systematic approach is based on a proven methodology that balances theory with application.  This experiential learning model integrates the technical and social aspects of tools and techniques with the systems and leadership skills that are mandatory for the long term success.

Lyall Consulting Approach:

Lyall Consulting provides mentoring, coaching and consultation for manufacturing executives for the optimization of organizational performance.  Key elements of our proven methodology include:

  • Operational Assessment
  • Hands-on application of Continual Improvement tools and techniques
  • Management Systems
  • Leader transformation

Our approach is based on the understanding that the principles of successful organizational change and performance optimization are constant.  Yet, while the validity of the principles is independent of time, their application within organizational entities is anything but a cookbook approach.  Creation of an optimal future state requires a thorough analysis of the company’s specific current reality and therefore a customized path.

Fundamental to our approach are:

Initial assessment of the client organization’s operations, systems and culture serve to establish focus on those crucial points of leverage that will generate immediate and the most impactful results for the company.

Hands-on application of tools and techniques to elevate the performance of these critical processes generates both knowledge retention and immediate ROI as the new found skills are applied to real business needs. The result is a generative process where success breeds success and the practitioner gains confidence and competence through real time application and feedback.

Parallel development and implementation of management systems provide continued focus, performance monitoring and discipline which manifest themselves in a sustainable continual improvement culture.

Leadership Transformation is considered a prerequisite for achieving organizational greatness.   New ways of thinking and acting by the organization’s leaders are essential to successful and sustainable transformations.  Through mentoring and coaching, leaders learn their new roles and responsibilities for guiding the organization toward new patterns of behavior and thought.
