Obituary: R.W. Lyall - 1930-2006

We are saddened to announce that Robert (Bob) W. Lyall, founder of R.W. Lyall & Company, Inc. passed away on May 25 after a 4-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert William Lyall, 75, Irvine, devoted Husband, loving Father, cherished Grandfather, trusted Friend, Leader and Coach. A man of honor, compassion, vision, courage and love, Bob touched the lives of countless people in deeply meaningful ways. Born December 21, 1930 in Morgantown, West Virginia, he passed away from pulmonary fibrosis on May 25, 2006 with his loving family by his side. He left behind his wife of 54 years, Lois, his son, Jeff (husband of Robin) and daughter, Jennifer (wife of Dean Fritchle), his grandchildren Hunter, Heather, Evan & Chase Lyall, and Clark & Stewart Fritchle, and brothers Leslie and Donald. Bob lived the “American Dream” as a self made man. After high school, Bob joined the Navy, which he served faithfully for 4 years. Bob represented the Navy in exhibition football games against the likes of the Los Angeles Rams. In 1952, Bob married the love of his life, Lois. In 1953, Bob & Lois moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where they started their family. Bob accepted a football scholarship to play at the University of Nebraska. He was a Husker for four years as their center and lineman. Bob graduated with a degree in Education. He quickly discovered engineering talents in the pipeline service and manufacturing industry, ultimately forming his own corporation, R.W. Lyall & Co., Inc., in 1970 manufacturing natural gas pipeline products. Bob has enriched the lives of many through his company and desire to serve and help others. Bob’s real passion and love was his family.
